Phil Dandridge

Sifu, and Unang Guro, Phil Dandridge began his martial arts training at the age of 16 under Master Rex Jones of the Fei Lung Kwan, and first formed an association to enable him to teach martial arts in 1995.This association was originally called the NKAGB (Northern Kung Fu Association of Great Britain) and taught the rare family kung fu system of Elephant Form Fist, or Chiong Hsing Chuan Fa, and Five Animals kung fu.
After a number of years training in Rapid Arnis and Warrior system Filipino martial arts, Phil started to learn Grand Master Yuli Romo's, and Master Rey Galang's, Kali Ilustrisimo from his friend and teacher, Punong Guro Peter Lewis, before formulating his own synthesis of Filipino martial arts derived from the various systems that he has learnt from.
After further study and reflection, Phil decided to start teaching other systems that he had studied, and the current syllabus now comprises Hung Kuen kung fu, Wing Chun kung fu, and Filipino martial arts (also known as Escrima, Eskrima, Arnis, or Kali).
Sifu Dandridge continually strives to add to his knowledge and skill in the martial arts, travelling far and wide to gain instruction in various systems of kung fu and Filipino martial arts.

Dandridge Martial Arts Schools

Training

Based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, and with instructors teaching in Swindon, Walsall, Trowbridge and Melksham, the DMAS has become one of the premier martial arts schools in the UK.
Teaching a rare family kung fu system, Elephant Form Fist, as the original core style, and subsequently southern Shaolin kung fu styles, notably Wing Chun and Hung Kuen, the DMAS has now also become an important branch of the Filipino Martial Arts boom in Britain, now teaching a synthesis of skills and techniques acquired from various Filipino martial art systems.
The club provides tuition in the following Chinese and Filipino martial arts:
Hung Kuen Kung Fu
Wing Chun Kung Fu
Eskrima

Hung Kuen Kung Fu

Perhaps the purest form of Southern Shaolin Kung Fu that still exists today. Hung Kuen can trace it’s roots back to one Hung Hee Kwan who lived close to Canton between 1740–1825. The style emphasizes the powerful techniques of the Shaolin Tiger System.

Wing Chun Kung Fu

The Wing Chun Kung Fu System is quite simple in appearance with a distinct lack of acrobatic leaps and extreme looping motions. It is a system built on scientific concepts and is based on the natural motion of the human body. The history of Wing Chun begins in the Ching Dynasty with the Shaolin Temple. One of the 5 Elders who survived the destruction of the temple by Manchu troops is credited with being the founder of Wing Chun. Her name was Ng Mui.

Eskrima

Unang Guro Dandridge has many years experience in a number of Filipino systems including Rapid Arnis, Warrior, Bakbakan Kali Ilustrisimo and Zu'bu Kali Ilustrisimo.
The aim of this class therefore is to teach a synthesis of the drills and techniques from these systems.
